Learn more about the impact of Selective Fibrotomy of Damaged Muscles (SFDM) on our patients

Thanks to the generosity of several parents who have permitted us to share their experiences with our treatment, we are able to provide videos and images showcasing the early results of surgery, along with a comparison between the patients’ mobility capabilities before and after treatment.

Case 1

The child experienced mobility difficulties in all limbs, with his posture affected, and he was unable to walk without some degree of assistance. One could observe his hesitation to take even a few steps without support.

Following the surgery and nearly half of his basic rehabilitation, notable improvements are evident. These include enhancements in posture, gait, significantly improved balance, increased range of motion in the ankles and knees, greater freedom in hand and wrist movements, and an overall higher level of independence.

Case 2

Here we observe the patient exhibiting a deformed posture and limited range of motion in his limbs. He can only walk short distances before needing to use the wall for stabilization and turning. Walking on the tips of his fingers, a common abnormality in patients with CP, he is unable to stand straight without his feet fully horizontal on the ground.

One month after surgery, the child is walking with the assistance of his brother. We observe that his feet are firmly planted on the floor, his legs and back are straight, and his gait is beginning to mimic normal walking patterns. His hands are used for balance and support during his steps, and they remain relaxed and fairly extended when he is standing.

Case 3

In this video, we observe the patient just before surgery, noting the limited range of motion in his ankle joint, as well as the disparity in range between his right and left joints.

Immediately after surgery, we can already discern a remarkable improvement: both ankle joints exhibit a significantly enhanced range of motion, with the previous tightness eliminated. This newfound flexibility allows for much freer movement.

Case 4

In this case, we observe tightness in both ankle joints, resulting in a restricted range of motion.

Following surgery, there is a noticeable increase in range, with the tightness alleviated, enabling the joints to function with a broader range of motion.
